First Amendment Friday: A Fort Pierce officer ran his ex girlfriend's license plate through police databases 382 times, and it took the media tipping off his own department to catch him.Fort Pierce, Florida. Josepher Crutchfield allegedly searched her plate in the Flock system 382 times between October 2025 and July 2026, mostly while off duty, with no legitimate law enforcement reason. Investigators say he also ran her and others through three additional police databases going back to 2023. Chief David Smith says the probe started after reporters contacted the department August 7 with concerns. Crutchfield lost system access that day, resigned August 18, and was arrested September 8 on four felony counts of unauthorized computer access. He's held on $80,000 bond. This isn't his first red flag: a 2021 internal investigation found he behaved inappropriately toward female coworkers and drew a two day suspension.Fort Pierce has since locked down Flock access department wide and is auditing every account. No further violations found yet, but this is why every one of these systems needs a real audit trail, not just a login screen.H/t CBS12
